We spent all afternoon at the beach the day after the 4th. The water was so warm, and our beach stays shallow for a long way out. There aren't any waves, so Noah can hang in the sand by the water, and Maya can play out a little bit with her friends, and go in and out, without us having to hover too much. Maya has another little friend named Maya, which is fun (and confusing as both moms call for their Mayas). There's an outdoor ice cream shack down the street from our house, so we went there afterwards.
This is to show that Noah is all about the sand now :). He loves the water too!
Our town has fireworks on the beach (well, from the water by the beach), so we parked at Anil's friend's house (his coworker from BI--one of the two that recruited him up here) and walked to the beach with our beers and camping chairs. It was so great! Anil has a lot of better pictures that I'll try to share. There is snack shack at our beach, and they had a small orchestra out that played during the fireworks. There were kids running around; the beach was packed. It was a pretty unique way to celebrate.
I'm still working on unpacking, but I finally got the bikes out of the garage! So far, this is about all that Noah can do on his little bike, but he'll start moving his feet soon :). Maya was happy to see her bike again. I miss our culdesac, but we have a long driveway that Maya can ride up and down. There is a one-mile bike trail in the neighboring town that we need to check out. I think we could walk and have Maya ride, or we can get a trailer for our bikes that the kids can sit in while we ride. Lots of things to still check out about this place.
